A.J. Mclean is ready for his close-up, it just turns out that his close-up makes him more prepared to join a girls group then a boy band.
Channeling his inner drag queen the Backstreet Boys singer put on a black tulle dress and a pair of black Loub pumps this week to pose for photographer Tyler Shields.
Throw in some black nail polish and a cigarette and you essentially have the A.J. McLean photo shoot.
McLean and Shields are good friends, in fact it was Tyler who photographed McLean just a few days before his wedding last December.
The photo (pictured above) was posted with the caption “It takes a real man to be a [woman]!”
Shields tells Eonline of the shoot:
“We always talked of doing something kinda crazy,” says Shields, who came up with the idea of shooting McLean in drag to commemorate the union. It was a full-on production: A stylist got him the dress, and the shoes were custom-ordered. (“Like size 11 or 12,” Shields remembers.)
“I wanted to take him to the dirtiest, grimiest place I possibly could,” Shields says. “I made him walk down Skid Row in heels like that.”
