WWE News: WWE NXT Champion Kevin Owens Makes WWE RAW Debut, But Is Not Being Called Up Just Yet

In a surprising turn of events, WWE NXT Champion Kevin Owens made his WWE RAW debut this past Monday. During the John Cena U.S. Title Open Challenge, it appeared that Owens was coming out to challenge Cena for his championship. It was a cool thing to see, as no one expected the NXT Champ to show up on RAW. We heard rumors of WWE having some NXT promotion on RAW due to Unstoppable happening on Wednesday. We just didn’t know what they’d do.

Owens never fought Cena, but rather the two just exchanged words for a bit. That was until Kevin Owens wanted to get physical and hit his pop up powerbomb on Cena to be the one to walk out tall. Later on, we found out that Owens would take on Cena at the Elimination Chamber PPV at the end of the month. This was cool to see, and many were under the impression that due to all of this, Owens was now part of the main roster.

According to Cageside Seats , that does not appear to be the case. While Kevin Owens did appear on RAW and is set to take on Cena on a WWE main roster PPV, he is not technically part of the main roster yet. This is most likely because Owens will be part of the NXT Tour coming up in the summer and WWE wants to keep him with NXT until after that. He may end up appearing later on to be a full main roster member.

Others like Sami Zayn, Adrian Neville, and Tyler Breeze all were on WWE RAW at one point and didn’t end up technically debuting until later on. Breeze still hasn’t. However, none of them had a random main roster PPV match with John Cena and still weren’t called up. So, it is a bit weird that WWE isn’t considering the idea of Owens being part of the main roster.

Kevin Owens very well could be the first NXT Champion to ever appear on a WWE main roster PPV as champion. It would be quite interesting to see and it would certainly put NXT over well, especially if Owens can win. As it stands right now, the United States Title is not on the line. So, Owens beating Cena is not out of the discussion. In fact, it very well could be done to help put over Kevin as well as WWE NXT .
