Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia is no longer President Donald Trump‘s favorite—this, after she emphasized releasing the Epstein files. The Epstein files and Trump’s active attempts to sabotage their release have created an internal rift within the Republican Party, and Marjorie Taylor Greene has chosen the victims’ side, which has resulted in her decision to resign from her seat early next year.
As reported by Politico, Marjorie Taylor Greene had previously spoken about the Epstein files, saying, “I have no idea what’s in the files. I can’t even guess. But the question everyone is asking is why fight this so hard?” Moreover, CBS News quoted Greene saying, “Standing up for American women who were raped at 14, trafficked, and used by rich, powerful men should not result in me being called a traitor and threatened by the President of the United States, whom I fought for.”
Greene’s words did not sit well with Trump, and he has called her a “ranting lunatic” for her efforts to push for the release of the Epstein files. Now that Greene has decided to leave the MAGA camp and is speaking out against Trump, she has been criticized by Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas, who said that Greene cannot handle the “heat” of being on the “opposite side” of Trump.

Talking to CNN‘s Jake Tapper, Crockett said that she could not initially believe that Greene had decided to leave. She said, “You know what? Honestly, I was like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me.” She then added, “You’re on the other side of the president for one week, and you can’t take the heat? Imagine what it is to sit in my shoes, to not only be on the opposite side of him, but to have people like her who are constantly fanning the flames of hate.”
She further mentioned, “And imagine what those threats look like when you literally are someone like me.” Crockett and Greene have a history of dispute with their feud gaining national attention in May, 2024 as Crockett described Greene as “bleach blonde, bad built, butch body” following a heated exchange at the House Oversight Committee.
Prior to what Crockett said about Greene, the latter had attacked the former’s looks, saying, “I don’t think you know what you’re here for. I think your fake eyelashes are messing with your reading.” Greene was chastised by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York for her comments.

With Trump making it clear that he would not support Greene and her eventual decision to leave, only time will tell where her political career goes next and how she uses her final days in Congress, with the Republicans.
