Linda Cardellini recently revealed that her stint on the 90s sitcom Boy Meets World made her nervous about playing Sylvia on Mad Men .
For those who didn’t watch the program, Cardellini’s character Lauren famously came in-between Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel). Fans of the series weren’t exactly happy about it.
During her chat with the Daily Beast, the former ER star revealed that she was a little nervous about portraying Sylvia on AMC’s Mad Men . Given her character’s situation, Linda Cardellini was a little nervous about how fans of the show would react.
The actress explained to the website :
The first time I ever experienced someone hating something I did on television was on Boy Meets World. I remember these kids coming up to me and calling me a “home-wrecker,” and so I had flashes of that going into my role on Mad Men. I was like, “Are people really going to hate Sylvia because of what she does to Don?” I thought the reactions would be much more vehement, but the reaction is pretty mixed about her.
Cardellini seemed surprised that a lot of Boy Meets World fans were directing their anger at her.
“They were mad. And I was like, ‘Why don’t they blame Cory? Why are they blaming me?’” she said.
Although some hardcore fans might have a few problems with Sylvia’s relationship with Don Draper, this really doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things. Linda Cardellini’s impressive performance in Mad Men recently earned her an Emmy nomination.
Cardellini has stayed very busy over the past few years. In addition to her turn on Mad Men , the actress provided the voice of Wendy on Gravity Falls . According to Internet Movie Database, she is currently filming Welcome to Me alongside Kristen Wiig and James Mardsen.
