Blame The Victim: Judge Says ‘Some Girls Enjoy Being Raped’

To blame the victim just took a vicious turn, with one Judge opining that some girls might enjoy being raped.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, one example of blaming the victim is when someone claimed girls wearing short skirts invited rape.

Judge Nissim Yeshaya made the statement during a hearing on the rape of a 13-year-old girl by four Palestinian boys. The rape victim had requested that the actions of the boys be considered an act of terrorism.

The room fell into silence when the judge was heard saying:

“There are some girls who enjoy being raped.”

The worst part is that the judge apparently didn’t understand why everyone went silent all of a sudden. The Judge defended his statement in this manner:

“This isn’t serious. They are trying to gain publicity off of me. I do not believe a rape victim is not hurt or that rape is not a severe offence. (My comments) were misinterpreted.”

Fortunately, the rape victim herself was not present since it was a hearing and technically the judge was retired who was merely attending court hearings. But people still called on the court to dismiss the retired judge from the proceedings entirely.

While this Judge claims he really isn’t trying to blame the victim, this isn’t the first time he’s been controversial. He once complained about Jews, saying, “They always appoint a token Sephardic judge to the Supreme Court.”
