Bryan Cranston Receives Epic ‘Breaking Bad’ Fan Letter From Anthony Hopkins

Breaking Bad Anthony Hopkins Fan Letter

Bryan Cranston and Breaking Bad have received kudos from just about everyone on the planet. One person who was particularly impressed with the series was Sir Anthony Hopkins.

To let Cranston know just how much he appreciated the guy’s performance, Hopkins penned an admittedly epic fan letter. According to the Silence of the Lambs star, he was simply blown away by the strength of Cranston’s performance.

“I’ve just finished a marathon of watching ‘Breaking Bad’ — from episode one of the first season — to the last eight episodes of the Sixth Season. A total of two weeks (addictive) viewing. I have never watched anything like it. Brilliant! Your performance as Walter White was the best acting I have seen — ever,” Hopkins gushed in his recent email.

The actor continued, “How the producers (yourself being one of them), the writers, directors, cinematographers… every department – casting etc… managed to keep the discipline and control from beginning to the end is awesome.”

Bryan Cranston wasn’t the only person to receive a large helping of praise from Anthony Hopkins. The actor kindly asked the Breaking Bad star to let everyone involved know just how happy he was with the entire series.

Here’s how Hopkins wrapped things up:

“Thank you. That kind of work-artistry is rare, and when, once in a while, it occurs, as in this epic work, it restores confidence. You and all the cast are the best actors I’ve ever seen. That may sound like a good lung full of smoke blowing. But it is not. It’s almost midnight out here in Malibu, and I felt compelled to write this email. Congratulations and my deepest respect. You are truly a great, great actor.”

Although some news outlets believed the letter was a hoax, the New York Daily News reportedly confirmed the email’s authenticity with Hopkins’ representative. You can check out the entire letter over at Uproxx.
