Greg Louganis Marries Johnny Chaillot, Asks For Charity Donations Instead Of Wedding Presents

Olympic gold medalist Greg Louganis has married Johnny Chaillot after less than a year of dating.

Louganis is famous for winning gold medals in diving during the 1984 and 1988 Olympic games. Louganis claimed victories in both the springboard and the platform. The famed diver tested positive for HIV in 1988 and in 1995 he appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show, where he revealed that he was gay.

Louganis, 53, and his paralegal boyfriend, 52, started dating in 2012 after a chance meeting on the dating website match.com. The couple married in Malibu, California, on Saturday October 12.

According to reports, the men invited around 160 guests during the party. The men both wore European-cut white suits and were accompanied down the aisle by Chaillot’s four sisters and Louganis’ diving coach Ron O’Brien.

After the wedding ceremony, guests were treated to music by recent The Voice contestant Dominic Scott Kay.

Instead of asking for wedding gifts for their home, the couple chose to ask for donations to several charities. Joking during a recent interview, the two men said they don’t need a new blender when they are already in their 50’s. The men did not reveal if they asked for certain charity donations or left that decision up to wedding attendees.

Talking about his marriage to Chaillot so late in life, Louganis said he had heard about a soulmate, but never believed in them, before adding, “I’m having second thoughts about that.”

Congratulations to Greg Louganis and Johnny Chaillot.
