Kris Jenner has confirmed that she and Bruce Jenner have separated after 22 years of marriage.
Rumors of a separation have circulated for a while now, but the couple and the Kardashian/Jenner clan have dismissed reports of an impending divorce. Bruce Jenner’s son, Brody, recently confirmed that his father and stepmother have been living apart for “some weeks now,” but said that they were working out their marital issues.
The couple finally put an end to the speculation Tuesday and told E! News that they were separated .
“We are living separately and we are much happier this way,” the Jenners said. “But we will always have much love and respect for each other. Even though we are separated, we will always remain best friends and, as always, our family will remain our number one priority.”
Last November, the Kardashian family matriarch dismissed rumors that she and Bruce Jenner were heading for divorce.
“We just laugh it off,” she said. “We love each other and just laugh about it…These kind of stories have been circulating for the last couple of years.”
According to TMZ , Bruce Jenner said at an event at the Virginia International Raceway, “ I’m finally free to do what I want and live the way I want.” Jenner reportedly also said that his life now is different from the way it has been for years, and that he is growing closer to his sons, Brody and Brandon.
The 63-year-old raced in the Lamborghini Series at the raceway, just a few weeks after a cancer scare.
“Nobody wore sunblock back then. It’s a Basal cell carcinoma, which is a—basically it is a skin cancer, because it doesn’t heal,” Jenner said.
“On the nose, I had a little red spot…The problem with the nose is, there’s no skin to cover it up, to cover up the hole,” he added. “Then I had to go to a plastic surgeon and he does this whole procedure where he…cuts the skin off your nose and replaces it. So it’s a little bit more complicated just to fill the stupid little hole.”
Kris and Bruce Jenner married on April 21, 1991, after five months of dating. They have two daughters together, Kylie and Kendall.
