Concord High School In Delaware Under Threat, State Police Arrive

State police in Delaware rushed to Concord High School on Monday morning after threatening messages were posted to a social learning platform online. The school, located in Brandywine Hundred, was visited by officers after the messages were discovered.

According to Sgt. Paul Shavack, “Troopers in coordination with the school district are taking appropriate preventative and security measures, and continue to investigate the origin of the messages.”

While students are still attending classes, a police presence is helping monitor the situation.

“Troopers and school administrators take all threats seriously, and will continue to aggressively investigate any threat that is received. Due to the ongoing investigation, I am unable to discuss the details of the messages as to not compromise the investigation,” says Shavack.

Brandywine School District superintendent Mark Holodick posted took to the district’s website on Sunday night to announced that “threatening, offensive, vulgar, and demeaning messages and pictures had been posted on Edmodo, a social learning platform.”

Holodick added “We do know that the threat to Concord originated in a southern state, not here in Delaware.”

Investigators will stay on the scene for an undisclosed period of time.

Threats are unfortunatley fairly common at high schools and colleges throughout the school year. We recently reported on two bomb threats left at Illinois State University. Those threats, discovered via notes left in a Schroeder Hall bathroom, led to FBI involvement at ISU.
