World’s Best Lasagna Recipe: John Chandler Still Holds Title After 11 Years [Video]

John Chandler may have created the world’s best lasagna.

The home chef has held the title on AllRecipes.com for the past 11 years. The recipe has been viewed more than 12 million times in the last five years. It has more than 12,000 likes and nearly 8,000 five star reviews.

If it isn’t the world’s best lasagna recipe it’s definitely pretty close.

One reviewer writes: “Excellent and Authentic recipe! A little more work and ingredients, but well worth it.”

Another added: “WOW! This really is World’s Best Lasagna!… Everyone raved about the lasagna.”

Chandler told ABC News that his recipe is so popular for two reasons. One, it’s delicious. And two, it’s easy to make.

Chandler said: “It’s a very simple, easy recipe that everyone can appreciate and that everyone has in their pantry the things to make this. You don’t need a masters in cooking. People have made it their own. They’ve changed it and added red wine or rosemary. It’s not just my lasagna; everyone has shared in it.”

If you scroll through the All Recipes website you’ll notice exactly what Chandler is talking about. Most chefs applaud the recipe but also add in their own little tweaks. Chandler’s recipe may be on the front page but the world’s best lasagna is hidden somewhere in the reviews.

Still, John deserves all of the credit. His recipe has been reprinted in cooking magazines and his name is mentioned alongside cooks like Gordon Ramsay.

Chandler said: “Here I am today: reprinted in countries all over the world and in many languages. Mentioned in the same sentence as Gordon Ramsay. Crazy. And I am a man from the South who loves to grill and is not a foodie. Imagine that.”
