’24: Live Another Day’ Will Film In London

24: Live Another Day will film in London beginning in January.

Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Jack Bauer will be heading across the pond for his next “thrilling international adventure.” Kiefer Sutherland, who starred in 24 for eight seasons — and a TV film — on Fox, will reprise his role as Bauer, director of field operations for the fictional Counter Terrorist Unit. Mary Lynn Rajskub, who played Chloe, an analyst at the CTU, will also be reprising her role. Howard Gordon will return to executive produce and Jon Cassar will also return to executive produce and direct.

“’24’ has always had such a global sensibility,” said Sutherland in a statement. “But to be able to tell this intense ’24’-style story with the beauty of Europe’s history and architecture as the backdrop is going to be fascinating. Hopefully, by the time you’re finished watching an episode, you’ll feel like you’ve been there…on the edge of your seat.”

“We wanted the show’s return to be an event, and part of that was putting Jack in a very different context,” co-showrunner and executive producer Evan Katz said in a statement. “Four years ago, we left Jack a fugitive from justice and we’re going to pick him up four years later in London.”

Fox chairman Kevin Reilly confirmed that 24 would be returning as a limited series in May. The series was cancelled in 2010. Reilly also said that the 12-episode revival would be the network’s first limited run series, with the potential for additional closed-ended stories. Unlike the series’ original run, in which episode represented one hour in real-time of Jack Bauer’s life, 24: Live Another Day will jump around during the day.

The decision to bring 24 back as a limited series came after plans for a feature film fell through because 20th Century Fox and Imagine Television couldn’t agree on a budget.
