Shots Fired Outside Capitol Building [Breaking]


Shots have been fired outside the United States Capitol Building in Washington D.C. Police allegedly opened fire on a black car as it pulled round the corner outside the building.

Some initial reports confirm that one police officer was injured and other reports claim that the active shooter is now in custody.

Details of the shooting are thin on the ground at this time.

What is known is that a number of gunshots were heard and that the building is now in a state of lock down as authorities get the situation under control.

Update: It appears to be the case that the shooting incident at the US Capitol was in fact just a car chase which happened to conclude outside the building.

Update: People are now able to leave the US Capitol via the south door as the lockdown ends. Lawmakers have reacted to the shooting on Twitter confirming that all staff are safe and accounted for.
