Chelsea Clinton Says 2014 Is ‘Year Of The Baby’
Chelsea Clinton revealed in a recent interview that 2014 is the “Year of the Baby” for her and hubby Marc Mezvinsky. The couple has been married for three years.
Clinton revealed her baby plans to Glamour magazine in a recent interview, saying she and Mezvinsky are intent on having a family next year.
The death of the 33-year-old’s grandmother, Dorothy Howell Rodham, in 2011, was a big reason for the decision. The couple sat down and prioritized what they want for their lives. Clinton explained, “We sat down and said, ‘Here’s what we want to do.’ ”
Their top priority was to start a family. Chelsea added, “So we decided we were going to make 2014 the Year of the Baby.” She jokingly went on to say, “And please, call my mother and tell her that. She asks us about it every single day.”
Along with dishing about baby fever, Chelsea Clinton also spoke about her career. The 33-year-old recently became the vice chairwoman of the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation after working on Wall Street for several years. Chelsea explained that Wall Street wasn’t a fulfilling job for her, adding:
“I loved the meritocracy of it and the camaraderie of the trading floor… But whether I made the company $2 or $2 million didn’t matter to me. I didn’t fundamentally care about making money.”
So, she took a larger role in the Foundation, which works with initiatives surrounding climate change, economic development, global health, and empowering women.
Clinton explained that her decision to get more involved came after a talk with her late grandmother. She recalled, “I realized that as much as I tried not to care about the things my parents cared about, I did care about them. Which was frustrating in some ways. My grandmother, in her wizened way, just said, ‘Yes, I’ve been waiting for you to come to this realization.’ ”
Considering 2014 is less than two months away, we expect Chelsea Clinton to make a baby announcement some time in the very near future.
