Batman Comic Artist Leaves 100 Sketches In NYC Cab

A Batman comic book artist left his bag and portfolios in the trunk of a cab. Neal Adams’ portfolios contained more than 100 sketches of Batman, Green Lantern, and Green Arrow. The content of the portfolios is priceless.

Adams drew a sketch of his bag and the taxi driver. He posted copies throughout the city in an attempt to recover his work. Unfortunately, he has no idea who was driving the cab.

The cab is described as a Crown Victoria Yellow Cab. Adams’ portfolios were inside a beige Bucky O’ Hare bag. As reported on Adams’ Facebook page, the artist is working closely with the Taxi and Limousine Commission and the New York Police department.

The Batman comic artist says there were two portfolio books inside the bag. He and his associates have notified art dealers and conventions throughout New York. They are also scanning Ebay and Craigslist.

An undisclosed reward is being offered for any information about the portfolios. Adams says the sketches have little commercial value. However, they are valuable to him personally.

The artist lost the bag on the evening of September 4.

Adams says the cab driver was “very courteous and shy.” He says the driver seemed inexperienced, as he did not turn on the meter until several minutes into the trip. Adams suggests the driver may not even realize the bag is inside his trunk.

Adams is well-known for creating the modern images of numerous DC Comics characters. He best known for his work on Batman, Superman, and Green Arrow.

As reported by Comic Book DB, Adams went on to form Continuity Studios. The studio has worked with several comics and television programs, including CyberRad, Nighthawk, Skeleton Warriors, and Ms. Mystic.

The Batman comic artist received numerous awards for his work, including the Will Eisner Comic Industry Award. Adams has been an icon in the comic industry for decades.
