Bolingbrook Plane Crash Victims Identified

UPDATE – The two victims involved in the Bolingbrook plane crash have been identified.

The male that died early Thursday morning has been identified as Dr. Narayan Venguswamy, 63, of Georgetown, Kentucky. The female who died at the scene late Wednesday evening was identified as Jay Venguswamy.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the two had been flying to the Chicago area to attend a medical conference.

The report continued on to say that witnesses saw the plane touch down at nearby Clow Airport before flying back out, said Joshua Lindberg, a National Transportation Safety Board spokesman.

NBC Chicago has also reported that Dr. Venguswamy may have aborted his original landing, and was attempting to turn around when the plane crashed late Wednesday afternoon.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTBS) said during a news conference Thursday evening that Dr. Venguswamy touched down at Bolingbrook’s Clow International Airport and then went back up in the air at low altitude, turned left and then crashed in a Chase Bank parking lot at 262 S. Weber Road.

As The Inquisitr reported earlier, the plane hit a tree, a light and then crashed into three cars before ended up in the Chase Bank parking lot and bursting into flames.

Dr. Venguswamy was a licensed pilot, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The plane was a Cirrus Sr20; a four-seat airplane, and was registered to GDK International in Georgetown, Kentucky according to officials.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Dr. Venguswamy worked at Georgetown Community Hospital. He had worked at the hospital for 27 years.

Hospital spokeswoman Wesley stated, He was an extraordinary physician, outstanding surgeon, who was passionate about the practice of medicine.”

The report continued on to say Jay Venguswamy worked in Dr. Venguswamy’s office. Wesley described Jay as a “very passionate, sweet individual” who loved photography.

The couple also has two adult children.

The Bolingbrook plane crash is still being investigated by officials from the FAA and the NTBS.
