‘SpongeBob 2’: Antonio Banderas Will Play A Pirate

The cast of SpongeBob 2 is heading down to Georgia this week to start filming the movie’s live action sequences.

There isn’t a lot of information available about the live action sequences, but here’s what we do know: The movie will feature Antonio Banderas and a bearded pirate.

Bleeding Cool News reports that Banderas will play a pirate in the new movie.

It’s unclear if Banderas will be a good or a bad pirate, but he’s probably going to have an awesome pirate beard.

A casting call that was recently sent out asked for people in the Savannah, Georgia area to shave their faces if they want to be part of the pirate crew. This will make the bearded pirate, which will most likely be Banderas, look extra evil in the film.

The Savannah Morning News reports that SpongeBob 2 will film in Savannah and on Tybee Island. Filming is expected to last several weeks, which may mean that the SpongeBob SquarePants sequel will feature a lot more live action.

The first movie had a few minutes of live action scenes and it looks like director Paul Tibbitt is hoping to expand into the real world for the sequel.

The new movie hasn’t started filming yet, but it already has a release date. Spongebob 2 is scheduled to hit theaters in February of 2015.
