Magic Sleepsuit A Million Dollar Idea For One Tired Mother

The Magic Sleepsuit was born out of a moment of pure frustration for mother Maureen Howard.

No matter what she tried, Mauren couldn’t get her infant son Will to sleep for more than 30 minutes during the day. Night time was fine, but when it came time to nap, little Will just refused.

It came to the point that Maureen had to walk him around the living room in a stroller — the only place he would fall asleep — and then leave him there for the duration of his nap.

Maureen wasn’t content to make so many daytime stroller rides, so the pediatric special therapist set out to learn why the stroller worked so well. She knew that infants liked the safety and security of being swaddled, and that was the same kind of controlled environment that the stroller offered.

So she went to her sewing machine and made a sleepsuit, one that looked something like a smaller version of a winter snowsuit. It finally got Will to sleep, and thus the Magic Sleepsuit was born.

“Babies tend to startle easily,” Maureen said, “because their reflexes are normally heightened when they’re infants. That’s why they wake up suddenly. The sleep sacs that a lot of parents use leave the arms and legs open and that’s where a lot of the startle comes from.”

Close to two years later, Maureen had a second child, Tori. When Tori outgrew her swaddle, Maureen pulled out the sleepsuit she had made and tried it out. Again, it worked like a charm.

“It was magic,” Maureen told The Huffington Post. “And it wasn’t just my kids! Once I told the women in my Mom’s group about it, they all wanted one. So I made a few more. When it worked for them, we knew we were onto something — that this was a solution that could change parent’s lives.”

Bringing the Magic Sleepsuit to the market was no easy task. Maureen had to take it through an international testing agency and make sure it conformed to the Consumer Products Safety Act.

By the time Maureen had her third child, word of the Magic Sleepsuit had spread across the internet. The product was discussed on message boards and highlighted on Mommy blogs.

The Magic Sleepsuit is now selling so well that Maureen expects to crest $1 million in revenue by next year.
