Mario Lopez Welcomes Baby Boy

It’s a boy for Mario Lopez and Courtney Lopez. The two welcomed their son in Los Angeles on Monday September 9. The EXTRA host revealed that his son’s name is Dominic Lopez.

Little Dominic is a bill of health, weighing in at 7lbs, 2 oz. The couple released a statement to Mario’s show EXTRA early this morning, stating: “Mother and baby are doing well.”

Although Mario really couldn’t wait to make an official statement, as he took the Twitter to reveal the sex of the baby after he was brought into the world. In a tweet, the 39-year-old wrote in enthusiasm:

“It’s a boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please welcome Dominic Lopez to the world! “Couldn’t be happier… @CourtneyMLopez & baby are doing just fine.”

Dominic isn’t their first child. The little boy joins big sister Gia, who recently celebrated her third birthday with a princess themed party on August 17. Gia Francesca was born on September 11, but since Courtney was due around then, the couple decided to celebrate the birthday early.

At the time the mom-to-be told PEOPLE:

“We were so excited to make Gia feel extra special this birthday before her baby brother or baby sister arrives.”

Being a father for a second time in a row was a good fit for Mario Lopez, who continued to express his happiness over the birth of his son.

Mario met Courtney (then Mazza) in 2008 when they both starred in A Chorus Line together on Broadway. In 2012 the couple married shortly after Courtney announced that she was expecting again. The X Factor host did admit that he was ready for a boy and was hoping his second child was just that, telling Us Weekly:

“I already have a girl, so if we have a boy that would be nice. But I won’t be disappointed if we don’t.

Looks like Mario got what he wished for. Congratulations to Mario and Courtney Lopez on the birth of their son Dominic.
