Justin Timberlake recently admitted that he wouldn’t mind playing the Riddler opposite Ben Affleck in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel 2.
Before we jump into this article, let’s set the record straight: It’s currently unknown if the character will have anything to do with the highly-anticipated follow-up. This is just a guy talking about a role he’d love to tackle. Please don’t start freaking out about things just yet.
During his appearance on the Fresh 102.7’s Jim and Kim morning show Tuesday, the “Mirrors” singer was asked about the Argo director’s controversial role in the upcoming sequel. In Timberlake’s humble opinion, Affleck is a good choice to play the Dark Knight.
“Ben Affleck as Batman, I like it. I worked with Ben last summer and I’ve seen his process. I think he’s a brilliant filmmaker. I think he’s an extreme talent, so he could surprise a lot of people,” the singer explained.
Although Justin Timberlake said he had absolutely no interest in playing Robin or any other superhero on the big screen, he admitted a fondness for supervillains. Should Warner Bros. decide to tell the Riddler’s story in Man of Steel 2, the singer definitely wants in on the action.
“I’ll tell you the villain I want to play more than anything because I grew up loving Batman, funny enough, is the Riddler. The Riddler is my favorite villain. The Riddler was like a sociopath. He was proper crazy. So if I’m gonna play crazy, I’m wanna play proper crazy. I’m ready. The Riddler. Gimme a call,” Timberlake said.
While it’s currently unknown if Affleck and the singer will do battle in the Man of Steel sequel, the pair can be found together in director Brad Furman’s crime drama Runner Runner. The flick is scheduled to hit theaters in the United States on October 4.
