[Watch] Bernie Sanders filibusters the hell out continuing tax cuts for wealthy

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is in the midst of a lengthy filibuster, in protest of keeping tax cuts for the wealthy.

While most people would rather receive endodontic treatment than watch C-SPAN, turning away from Sanders’ anti-tax cuts for the wealthy has proven difficult for many Americans if Twitter is any indication. “Bernie Sanders” and “#filibernie” have been trending hard this afternoon, even if the action taken by Sanders on the floor isn’t a traditional filibuster.

Sanders struck out at the accumulation of wealth by the top 2% of Americans at the expense of the middle class, comparing the current economy to that of banana republics. Of the what he identified as unchecked greed, he said:

“How can I get by on one house? I need five houses, ten houses! I need three jet planes to take me all over the world! Sorry, American people. We’ve got the money, we’ve got the power, we’ve got the lobbyists here and on Wall Street. Tough luck. That’s the world, get used to it. Rich get richer. Middle class shrinks.”

The kinda-filibuster is currently in its sixth hour. (Clip below from December 2nd.)
