‘Ravenswood’ Casts ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Actor Justin Bruening In Recurring Role

Grey’s Anatomy actor Justin Bruening has been cast in ABC’s Pretty Little Liars spinoff, Ravenswood.

The 33-year-old will recur on the series as Benjamin Price, a teacher at a local high school who has an affinity for connecting with students (sounds like another high school teacher we know, doesn’t it?)

Bruening will make his first appearance in the October 22 premiere.

Ravenswood is a neighboring town of Rosewood, where Pretty Little Liars takes place. The town has been suffering from a deadly curse for five generations. Five young strangers find themselves connected by the curse, and must investigate the town’s mysterious history before it’s too late.

Pretty Little Liars star Tyler Blackburn, who plays Caleb Rivers, will also be starring in Ravenswood. He’ll travel to the town in the PLL Halloween special, which will be followed by the Ravenswood premiere. He’ll also still be appearing in Pretty Little Liars.

Blackburn said he was flattered when series creator Marlene King told him about the spinoff. It was before ABC Family had officially greenlit the show, and he said he knows nothing happens until a deal is officially wrapped.

“Then she called me four days later and was like, ‘We’re doing this!’ That was my first ‘Whoa!’ moment, but thankfully I had so much time left on the PLL set,” he said. “As we got towards the end, it was so bittersweet. But I’m very excited about Ravenswood from what I’ve heard. I think it’ll be cooler than anyone has imagined.”

Blackburn said, despite the theme, the series won’t be too supernatural.

“I’m not fighting goblins… yet,” he said. “It just has a tinge of supernatural stuff, so people will be intrigued.”

Ravenswood also stars Merritt Patterson (Olivia Matheson), Brett Dier (Luke Matheson), Nicole Gale Anderson (Miranda Collins), and Britne Oldford (Remy Beaumont).
