Rashida Jones Shifts From Acting To Producing With New CW Series

Rashida Jones just announced her departure from Parks and Recreation, but she apparently isn’t straying too far in the television realm.

The actress just got a script order from The CW for The Revengers, an hourlong drama that she and older sister Kidada Jones are producing.

The show is about two estranged friends in their 20s who get reunited in New York when they learn they’ve been dating the same man. The two then concoct a scheme to get back at the man, but in doing so end up gaining viral fame and realize they have an opportunity to set up a “revenge buisness” to help others seeking payback.

Rashida Jones will join her writing/producing partner Will McCornack in the CW project. Her sister Kidada, who has made a name as a model/actress/fashion designer, will earn her first producing credit for the show.

This is actually the second series that Rashida the producer has sold with McCormick. The two combined to develop Stuck, a comedy from Parks and Recreation writer Alexandra Rushfield that Fox has given a pilot commitment.

Rashida and Kidada have also appeared in another recent project together. They joined their friend, designer Scott Sternberg, for a series of photos released through the fashion line Band of Outsiders’ Tumblr.

“My sister and I have known Scott for a long time and [have been] huge fans of Band for so long,” Rashida told People magazine. “We feel super honored to be a part of the fall campaign! We have such different styles and Scott’s eye is such that we both find stuff that we love every season!”

The photos, which were released to the Tumblr page over the course of the week, showed the sisters dressed as 1970s lounge singers in one shot and sporting new nicknames (“Sheeds” and “Dods”) in another.

Rashida Jones is leaving Parks and Recreation during the current season, with plans to appear in the first 13 episodes.
