‘Game Of Thrones’ Natalie Dormer Cast As Cressida In ‘Hunger Games: Mockingjay’


Game Of Thrones star Natalie Dormer has joined the cast ofThe Hunger Games: Mockinjay in the role of Cressida, according to an announcement from Lionsgate on Thursday.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2012), which is the second installment in the trilogy, will be released on November 22 of this year, with Mockinjay Part 1 scheduled for November 21, 2014 and Part 2 for November 20, 2015.

Director Francis Lawrence returns to helm for the last two films as well as Catching Fire after Gary Ross, who also wrote the script, stepped down from his directorial chair.

Natalie Dormer brings some good credential to the all-star cast already amassed for the production. She is no stranger to fans of the hugely popular HBO series Game Of Thrones in which she plays Margaery Tyrell.

Television viewers might remember her from her role as Anne Boleyn in another HBO series, The Tudors.

Natalie Dormer recently completed production of the indie film Posh alongside Max Irons (The White Queen) and is slated to star in Ron Howard’s action-drama Rush with Chris Hemsworth and Ridley Scott’sThe Counselor with Michael Fassbender and Brad Pitt.

Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, in the main roles of Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, are back as is Liam Hemsworth.

Some heavy weights have joined the cast in the persons of Philip Seymour Hoffman, Lenny Kravitz, Donald Sutherland, Woody Harrelson, Sam Claflin, and Jenna Malone.

Suzanne Collins wrote The Hunger Games in 2008, Catching Fire came in 2009, and Mockingjay in 2010. The adaptation was co-written by Gary Ross and Collins herself.

The books received positive reviews, including those from renowned authors Stephen King and Stephanie Meyer and were quickly grabbed for the adaptation.

Natalie Dormer is one of the hottest young actresses in recent years and fans are sure to be pleased with her casting as Cressida in The Hunger Games: Mockinjay.
