Mike Ditka: I’m Still A Chicago Bears Fan

It’s been awhile since Mike Ditka visited Halas Hall but the Da Coach still insists that he’s a Chicago Bears fan.

Ditka returned to the Windy City this week to watch his former team practice.

Ditka, who played for the Chicago Bears in the 60s and then returned as a coach in the 80s, said that he’ll be a Chicago Bears fan for life.

Ditka said: “It’s time to dispel the notion that I’m not a Bears fan… Yeah, I was fired by the Bears, but that’s life. There has never been a time I was not a Bears fan. I have a right to be a Bears fan as much as anybody. I played on a championship team and I coached a championship team.”

The Chicago Bears have had a few bright spots over the years but they haven’t won a Super Bowl in close to three decades. But that doesn’t matter much to Ditka. Da Coach talked to Jay Cutler, GM Phil Emery and head coach Marc Trestman and told them that the Bears had a bright future.

Ditka said: “I told them that they have the best opportunity in the world. They’re playing in the greatest city for the greatest organization that was founded by Mr. Halas… One thing you never want to do is live in the past. You live in the present. You deal with the present and you look to the future.”

What do you think of Mike Ditka returning to the football field in Chicago? Do you think the Bears have a bright future?
