Simon Pegg has tweeted an image of himself pointing at a Batman cut-out, alongside the caption, “Uh… guys,” in an attempt to spark speculation that he might play Bruce Wayne.

However, movie fans haven’t fallen for his trick again. Last Thursday, Pegg tweeted an image of him pointing at a cut-out of Ant-Man, which is being directed by his close friend, Edgar Wright.

Wright and Pegg have worked together on numerous projects, such as Shaun of the Dead, Spaced, and Hot Fuzz, as well as the upcoming The World’s End.

This lead moviegoers to predict that he was about to take the lead role in Marvel’s upcoming effort, which is set to be released in November 2015.

However, when paying a visit to Marvel’s New York City office he decided to upload the image to tease fans about his involvement. However, he was only joking around, which he confirmed when he squash the rumors with the following tweet:

“FFS the Internet, all I did was point at the central character in my dear friend’s next movie, because I’m excited for him”

Last week, Edgar Wright played the same joke, tweeting, “THR Breaking: Simon Pegg offered role of Batman in @wppictures ‘Superman vs Batman’. #BatPegg.”

Comic Book.com reported that Pegg decided to have more fun on Tuesday with his Batman tweet , which read:

Recently, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, and Christian Bale have all been linked to the lead role, with the latter apparently offered $50 million to reprise his role.

However, Ethan Hawke, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Wes Bentley, and Jake Gyllenhaal have also apparently been offered the part of Bruce Wayne too.

It’s believed that Zack Snyder is looking to cast an actor in his late 30s or early 40s for the role of Wayne, and the actor will need to be in tip-top shape, as well as being distinguished and refined.
