Thor: The Dark World Reshot To Include More Loki

Thor: The Dark World was reshot to include extra scenes with Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, due to the actor’s tremendous chemistry with the titular character played by Chris Hemsworth.

Director, Alan Taylor, told Collider, “We’re doing full scenes, scenes that were not in the movie before. We’re adding scenes, creating scenes, writing scenes for the first time.”

He then added, “We realised how well Loki was working in the movie, and we wanted to do more with him. So it was that kind of thing, it was like, ‘Oh, we could do this, we could jam this in here because he’s such a wonderful guy to watch do his stuff.'”

Taylor admitted that this has been a common occurrence with Marvel’s movies, confirming that Joss Whedon and Shane Black made late changes during the production of The Avengers and Iron Man 3.

Previously, Hiddleston described his performance in the upcoming Thor sequel, stating, “Oh, I’ve got plenty to do in Thor, believe me. A lot of new stuff. It’s a new iteration of the character. It’s a new development. Another trick, another poker game for the god of mischief. And he plays it well.”

Unfortunately, despite his obvious popularity with Taylor, Loki won’t be appearing in The Avengers sequel, entitled Avengers: Age Of Ultron, after the 32-year-old confirmed Joss Whedon hadn’t approached him to reprise his role.

Hiddleston stated, “Joss [Whedon] gave me so many wonderful things to do in that first film that we’d only be trying to repeat ourselves, and probably less well in the second one.”

He then added, “I think keeping it fresh and new is good for The Avengers even though it’s a shame for me.” Hiddleston admitted that the sequel is going to be filled to the brim with new characters and it will be a very “busy place.”
