Ocean’s 16: Powerball Winners Share Plans For Spending Fortune [Video]

A group of 16 people who work at Ocean County’s vehicle maintenance department, dubbed Ocean’s 16, came forward today to claim their share of the $448 million jackpot.

According to USA Today, the group will be splitting one-third of the $448 million Powerball jackpot, or about $86 million. That will give each member of Ocean’s 16 about 3.8 million after taxes.

The group, consisting of nine women and seven men, claimed their share of the jackpot today in New Jersey.

Brian McCarthy, the group’s spokesman, said: “This is an amazing group of people, and it’s been a roller coaster since Thursday.”

The group took turns taking to the microphone to share their stories and talk about how they were going to spend their money. One of the winners, Darlene Riccio, said that she lost her house in Hurricane Sandy and planned on buying herself a new one as soon as she could.

Riccio said: “One of the first things I’m going to do is a buy a home. When I found out we won, I was speechless. I thought they were joking and it was the worst joke ever. It has been an extremely rough year.”

Joseph Odoardo said that he was going to retire. Sue Nickel said that she was going to fix her family’s home that was damaged in the storm. William L. Seeley hasn’t decided what he is going to do but he confirmed that he was happy.

Seeley said: “We are happy, happy, happy! I’m going to continue to watch NASCAR races on Sunday. Maybe I’ll be at a log cabin on multiple acres of land.”
