Dallas Shooting: Suspect Was Male Mavericks Cheerleader [Report]

New details have emerged regarding last night’s Dallas shooting rampage. The man responsible for killing four people and injuring four more is reportedly a former member of an all-male Dallas Mavericks cheerleading team, and he may have been targeting both an ex-girlfriend and his ex-wife.

Erbie Bowser was arrested by police outside of a home in DeSoto after allegedly throwing a hand grenade into the living room of the house and shooting and killing two women inside. Two boys, ages 11 and 13, were also wounded before Bowser ran out of bullets.

Bowser is also connected to a prior shooting that night in southwest Dallas where two people were killed and two others were wounded. Authorities believe he was targeting a former girlfriend and his estranged wife.

The 44-year-old also has previous arrests for violating a protective order and evading arrest.

According to local media reports, Bowser was a former Mavs ManiAAC, a hip-hop male cheerleading team who perform at Dallas home basketball games.

A Facebook page belonging to an Erbie Bowser from Dallas shows promotional photos for Mavs ManiAACs from between 2009 and 2011. He is nicknamed “E-Luv” in some of the photos, and is listed at 6-foot-7 and 399 pounds.

He was also employed as a special education teacher and worked in a Dallas-area school district for nine years before leaving on good terms in 2010.

“From what I understand, he was a very likeable guy,” said Laura Jobe, an administrative officer. “He was described to me as a gentle giant; never anything violent about him. In fact, just the opposite.”
