Miracle Treat Day: Buy A DQ Blizzard, Give Back

Today is Miracle Treat Day at Dairy Queen, where the simple act of purchasing a Blizzard will in and of itself “give back” to the community with a reciprocal donation.

Miracle Treat Day is a DQ annual fundraiser, but the enticement to help kids by eating ice cream is one that the brand doesn’t have a hard time promoting.

According to their site, a portion of every DQ Blizzard purchase on Miracle Treat Day will be donated — but there’s more.

If you RSVP to the event on Facebook, Dairy Queen will donate a dollar to the network — the brand explains:

“On Thursday August 8th, 2013, $1 or more* from every Blizzard®Treat purchased at participating DQ® stores will be donated to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals… In addition to that, for the second year in a row, your Facebook RSVP to Miracle Treat Day will also be matched with a $1 donation to the cause—up to $50,000. Together we can provide hope and healing to sick children in your community. Let’s make miracles happen.”

Miracle Treat Day has some famous boosters, with Miss America 2013 joining in to boost the event on Fox News and handing out Blizzards.

On Facebook, DQ explains some of the good Children’s Miracle Network has done in recent years on Miracle Treat Day and tells those who wish to participate but aren’t located near a Dairy Queen how to join in:

“@ChildrensMiracleNetworkHospitals help children in 170 hospitals across the U.S and Canada. Since their creation they’ve raised over $4.7 billion- most of it, $1 at a time. Buy a ?#?BLIZZARDtreat? from a participating DQ location on Thursday, August 8 to help support your local ?#?CMNH?. Text ‘Miracle’ to 41411 to sign up for Miracle Treat Day reminder!”

Have you Facebook RSVP’d to Miracle Treat Day 2013 at DQ?
