Laura Bell Bundy Joins Anger Management As Selma Blair Drama Subsides

Laura Bell Bundy is getting a call-up from the musical circuit, and Anger Management is looking to put the drama of the past few months in the past.

This week the popular FX series announced that Bundy would be joining the cast as Dr. Jordan Denby, an alcoholic divorcee who will star opposite Charlie Sheen’s character. It is the second major cast addition this summer to come after series lead Selma Blair left the show amid a cloud of controversy.

Blair had gotten into a public feud with Charlie Sheen that resulted in the actor refusing to return to the set, and eventually led producers to fire Blair.

“We are confirming that Selma Blair will not be returning to ‘Anger Management’ and we wish her the very best,” the studio said in a statement.

It was initially reported that Charlie Sheen was interested in Mila Kunis as a replacement, and a casting call noted that the show was looking for a “sexy” and “gorgeous” actress to play a “by the book psychiatrist.”

They apparently found their part in Laura Bell Bundy. The actress played the role of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde — The Musical on Broadway. She has also appeared in How I Met Your Mother and Hart Of Dixie.

Laura Bell Bundy is also a country singer, and was actually on tour with Rascal Flatts when Anger Management announced she was joining the cast.

This marks the second major addition to the show’s cast this summer. In June FX announced that Brian Austin Green, who had been appearing on the show as the boyfriend of Charlie Goodson’s ex-wife, would be moved up to a series regular.

With Brian Austin Green and Laura Bell Bundy on board, insiders say Anger Management is aiming to reinvigorate its formula and move past the bad press that came with the Selma Blair flap.
