Eddie Lacy ‘Fat’ Photo Stirs Debate In Green Bay

Eddie Lacy will be expected to carry part of the Packers running game next season, but the Green Bay running back may also be carrying a few extra pounds. A “fat” photo of Lacy recently circulated on Twitter, and several football fans are wondering if Lacy is really as out of shape as he looks.

ESPN notes that Lacy is listed at 5-foot-11 and 230 pounds but it looks like he’s gained a little weight since he was drafted by the Packers in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft.

But that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Coach Mike McCarthy said that Lacy falls into the “big” running back category and that he plans to used Lacy in red zone situations.

McCarthy said: “(Lacy) definitely falls in the category of a ‘big back,’ and big backs fall forward… If we had any concerns about any of our guys conditioning-wise, they wouldn’t be on the field.”

Lacy may have put on a few pounds but the Packers are happy with his conditioning and his size.

Lacy said: “I’m at a weight where I’m comfortable at and the coaching staff feels as though they’re comfortable where I’m at… So as far as that’s concerned, we’re all on the same page.”

But that doesn’t mean that the Packers aren’t making fun of Lacy’s “fat” photo.

Receiver Randall Cobb said: “I definitely made fun of him last night… I pulled the picture up. We know he’s in shape. We know he’s good. It’s just a bad angle. It’s definitely a bad angle.”
