Garth Brooks is a grandpa!
The iconic country music singer became a grandfather for the first time this week when his middle daughter, August Anna Brooks, gave birth to a baby girl.
According to her Facebook , the 19-year-old gave birth to a girl named Karalynn on Tuesday. The baby’s father is Chance Michael Russell, who lives in Owasso, Oklahoma and went to the same high school as August.
The two have been together since October 2011. August recently worked for a law firm and has begun school at the University of Oklahoma since graduating high school in 2012.
Garth Brooks and his wife, Trisha Yearwood, gave a statement to Tulsa World about becoming grandparents:
“Our family would first like to thank everyone for their warm wishes and sweet celebration of Baby K’s arrival. Our children’s lives have always been extremely private and they have been endlessly encouraged to be their own people.
“We have always wanted them to be individuals and NOT be known as ‘someone’s daughters’. I have been amazed and grateful how the press has always respected this. I now ask that respect to please continue as this young family begins the greatest days of their lives.”
In other Garth Brooks news, the 51-year-old singer has said that he’s thinking about releasing new music and going on tour with his wife after Allie Colleen (the couple’s youngest daughter) graduates high school next year.
