Vin Diesel Drops ‘xXx 3’ Hints On Facebook

Vin Diesel might be stepping into Xander Cage’s shoes once again.

Although it’s been roughly 11 years since the Fast and Furious 6 star tackled the role in director Rob Cohen’s xXx, the actor recently hinted about a possible return to the franchise on Facebook.

“Xander Cage: found alive!!! Stay tuned for more on this story,” Vin Diesel announced on his extremely popular social media account. You can find the pic below.

xXx told the story of an extreme sports enthusiast who finds himself working for the US government on a top-secret mission. In addition to Diesel, the flick starred Asia Argento and Samuel L. Jackson.

Despite the success of the movie at the box office, the action hero decided to sit the sequel out. In order to keep the series alive, producers tapped Ice Cube to fill the void. Needless to say, xXx: State of the Union wasn’t nearly as enjoyable as its predecessor.

Back in 2009, Rob Cohen and Vin Diesel were attached to star in the sequel xXx: The Return of Xander Cage. However, the Riddick star quit the project shortly after Cohen dropped out. Invincible director Ericson Core was tapped as Cohen’s replacement, but the sequel never got off the ground.

Outside of Diesel’s Facebook post, there’s not much info about xXx 3 currently available. It’s unclear if Rob Cohen will return to direct the next installment of the franchise.

While fans are waiting to hear what happens with the project, they can catch Vin Diesel in writer-director David Twohy’s Riddick. The bloody sci-fi actioner is currently slated to hit theaters across North America on September 6.

Here’s the very odd image the actor posted on his Facebook page.
