Avengers: Age Of Ultron: Joss Whedon Reveals It’s ‘Darker’ And Talks Scarlet Witch Too

Fresh from the revelation that Ultron will now appear in The Avengers sequel, which is now entitled, Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Joss Whedon has been discussing the ensemble follow-up in more detail.

Whedon confirmed that the Marvel epic won’t be a direct adaptation of the comic it shares its title with, stating, “A lot of people, because we called it Age of Ultron, and there was a book Age of Ultron just recently, assumed that was the storyline we’re doing, which is not the case. We’re doing our own version of the origin story of Ultron.”

He then added, “We’re sort of crafting our own version of it where his origin comes more directly from the Avengers we already know about.”

Whedon, who has been in full on publicity mode since the Comic Con announcement, then took time to discuss another new character who will appear in the film, Scarlet Witch with Total Film. More specifically, he talked about her garments though.

“She might wear a headband or something that might echo [the original costume],” admitted Whedon. “The guys at Marvel, the conceptual artists, are phenomenal, and they are so good at taking the essence of what works and interpreting it for the actual human body.”

He then discussed the process of designing her outfit, stating, “When they paint something you can not only tell how it’s gonna work on a person, you can even tell what fabric it’ll be. They are very specific, very talented. So I’m excited to see the designs.”

Whedon also admitted that it will be inspired by the character’s look in the comics, but it confirmed that it’ll also have a modern tinge. “Obviously we want to echo the look that people know,” stated the filmmaker, “but there’s the classic look and the Ultimates look, you have to do it in a way that will work. It can’t be too old school… she can’t wear a leotard!”
