Jeff Wadlow Discusses X-Force Script

Jeff Wadlow, who last week was confirmed as the writer and director for the upcoming X-Force film, has been discussing his work on the comic book adaptation.

The response to Wadlow’s announcement, who is currently busy promoting Kick-Ass 2, which he also wrote and directed, has been widely positive, and it seems as though the filmmaker is already hard at work on the screenplay.

“I’m pretty deep into it,” revealed Wadlow. “I have the whole story completely worked out. I’m about 20 pages into my draft. If I wasn’t promoting Kick-Ass, I would probably have a draft [completed], but Kick-Ass is going to slow me down just a little.”

Wadlow continued, “I love the current run of Uncanny X-Force. I love the classic run. Part of my take was addressing this idea that X-Force can be many different things, and that’s what got the studio excited. I think the fans will be excited, too.”

Wadlow’s words have lead to fans speculating that his film could feature a plethora of characters from the X-Men universe. The likes of Deadpool, Wolverine, and Nightcrawler have linked with appearing in the movie.

X-Force materialised in 1991 as a spin-off from the original X-Men team. Their cavalcade of mutant superheroes were a much rougher and rag-tag ensemble, and they were more than willing to use violence and firearms to achieve their goals.

There have been a number of intriguing, dangerous, and downright cool characters in X-Force’s history, with the likes of Warpath, Cable, Cannonball, Boom Boom, Domino, and Sunspot each going on to become cult figures in the comic book world.

Robert Liefeld, who created the comic, has already been listening and responding to casting suggestions on his Twitter page. The likes of Denzel Washington, Woody Harrelson, and Steve Lang have all been met with enthusiasm by Leifeld.
