Comic-Con 2013: Zack Snyder To Direct New Superman/Batman Movie

The Warner Bros. Comic-Con 2013 panel had great news for fans when Zack Snyder, Henry Cavill, and Harry Lemix took the stage to announce that a new Superman/Batman movie is in the works.

Is anyone else massively excited about this piece of information?

The Warner Bros. panel ended with the blockbuster announcement. There were rumors about a sequel to Man of Steel almost as soon as the first film was out. Henry Cavill spoke of it during the press junket to promote the film, but this is the first we hear of the Superman/Batman movie.

Other than saying that Henry Cavill would once again take on the role of Superman, no other details were shared. We know there is Justice League in the works, at least Zack Snyder has talked about it, he said that he needed to “develop” the character further before considering League.

Maybe this is what Snyder was talking about, give Superman more screen time to grow.

Lennix read from Frank Miller’s words from the famous Superman/Batman fight at the climax of his The Dark Knight Returns:

I want you to remember, Clark…in all the years to come…in your most private moments…I want you to remember…my hand…at your throat…I want…you to remember…the one man who beat you.

But Zack Snyder said that the new film would not be an adaptation of Dark Knight Reutrns.

Shortly after the panel announcement, Warner Bros. issued a press release with further details about the new DC hero film.

On the heels of the worldwide success of “Man of Steel,” director Zack Snyder is bringing together the two greatest Super Heroes of all time—Batman and Superman—for the first time on the big screen.

Zack Snyder is an incredibly talented filmmaker, but beyond that, he’s a fan first and he utterly gets this genre.
