It’s truly the end of an era- Bill Clinton, a president mainly associated with a peaceful and prosperous reign and an affinity for fatty and deep fried foods, has given up Big Macs and steaks in favor of the occasional piece of fish and mostly veggies.
Clinton said this spring that he’d been working on a diet at his daughter’s behest for her wedding, indicating she had some pretty strict requirements:
Chelsea “told me the other day, she said, ‘Dad the only thing you gotta do is walk me down the aisle and you need to look good.’ So I said ‘Well, what’s your definition?’ And she said: ‘Oh, about 15 pounds.’ So I’m halfway home.”
According to Clinton on Larry King via Gawker , the habits have stuck for now, and he feels that the changes could positively affect his heart issues:
“I did all this research, and I saw that 82 percent of the people since 1986 who have gone on a plant-base, no dairy, no meat of any kind, no chicken, no turkey—I eat very little fish, once in a while I’ll have a little fish—If you can do it, 82 percent of people have begun to heal themselves.”
