Versace Mansion Heading To Auction Block

The Versace mansion is going up for auction.

According to Reuters, the Miami Beach mansion that was once owned by Gianni Versace, will go up for auction this September. The starting bid will be $25 million.

The Versace Mansion, known as Casa Casuarina, has been up for sale for over a year. The 23,000 square-foot mansion originally hit the market at $125 million but the price was cut down to $75 million a few months ago.

Now, the famous home on Ocean Drive will go for as little as $25 million when it hits the auction block on September 17.

Lamar Fisher, president of the Fisher Auction Company, said: “This is the trophy property of the century… “We are very pleased to have the opportunity to manage the sale of this one-of-a-kind property.”

The 10-bedroom home was built in 1930. The mansion, which was purchased by Gianni Versace in 1992, features several luxurious features like a 54-foot mosaic pool that is lined with 24-karat gold. ABC notes that several rooms in the mansion feature stained glass, Italian marble, and hand painted frescoes.

The house is also the site of Versace’s murder. The Italian fashion designer was shot and killed on his doorstep in 1997.

NPR reports that the Miami home has been operating as a 10-room boutique hotel for several years. The hotel close earlier this year and a bankruptcy court has put Fisher Auction Company in charge of the sale.
