Missing Harvey Girl’s Body Found In Trash Bin
A missing Harvey girl’s body was found in a trash bin early this morning. Authorities have identified the body of six-year-old Ahlittia North, who was reported missing on Saturday morning.
Ahlittia’s parents Lisa North and Albert Hill received the news around 1 am. Both parents contend that Ahlitta was in her bed asleep the last time they saw her.
As reported by NOLA News, Ahlittia was last seen at 11 pm Saturday night. At approximately 9 am the next morning, she was gone. North and Hill noted that Ahlittia’s toothbrush, toothpaste, and blanket were also missing from the home.
Officials with the FBI, Kenner Police department, New Orleans Police Department, and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office combed the neighborhood for the missing Harvey girl. The search included woods located across the street from Ahlittia’s home.
Numerous trash bins and dumpsters surrounding the home were searched. However, no evidence was found.
Ahlittia’s body was located in a garbage can less than 100 feet from her home. Officials reportedly told Hill that “whoever had her must have brought her back.”
Matthew Flugence, age 20, has been named as a person of interest in Ahlittia’s abduction. Flugence is currently a suspect in the sexual battery of an 11-year-old girl. Flugence is Hill’s nephew.
As reported by The Advocate, Ahlittia’s parents have confirmed that her body was found and identified by police. However, authorities have not released an official statement. A press conference is scheduled for 2 pm.
As reported by NOLA, Ahlittia’s mother was in shock when she received the news:
“I just knew I was going to go down there, and they were going to bring her out… We would have to take her to the hospital. I didn’t think they were going to tell me she was dead.”
An autopsy is currently being performed by the Jefferson Parish coroner’s office. Ahlittia’s cause of death is unknown at this time.
The missing Harvey girl’s body has been found, bringing the family some degree of closure. As they mourn the loss of their child, authorities continue their search for Ahlittia’s killer.
