June “Mama” Shannon credits the hit TLC program Here Comes Honey Boo Boo with helping her lose weight, but admits that she still eats whatever she wants.
Several months ago, the Honey Boo Boo clan matriarch showed off a much slimmer figure in photos published by Us Magazine , leading many to wonder whether the famously filled-out mother of four had begun a diet and exercise routine.
While she admitted at the time to being a bit more conscious about what she eats, she said simply that the show keeps her so busy that she is losing weight from all the running around she’s doing.
Now, Shannon has lost 100 pounds , and she continues to credit all of the extra activities she and her family film for the show with her dramatically altered appearance.
Still, as she tells In Touch , the Honey Boo Boo family eats what they want.
“We eat what we like. We always did. The show has just made me a lot more active,” Shannon said of her lifestyle.
Still, Shannon has been criticized for her weight and unhealthy lifestyle by critics of the show. She said that she still expects to receive such criticism, but she generally blocks them out.
“Everybody has opinions, and everyone has haters. I think you have to be happy with yourself even if you’re big. If you worry about trying to make other people happy, you won’t be happy yourself… If I gained the whole 100 pounds back, I’d be OK with it. A lot of larger people beat themselves up when they gain, but I’m really happy with myself.”
Here Comes Honey Boo Boo returns with its second season on July 17, 2013.
