Ryan Davis, Video Game Journalist, Dies Mysteriously At 34

Ryan Davis, a media personality in the gaming vertical, has sadly passed away at the age of 34 — though a cause of death for the young journalist has not been released.

The death of Ryan Davis was confirmed on a site he co-founded, Giant Bomb, by Product Manager Matthew Rorie.

Rorie simply said of Davis’ sudden passing:

Obviously we’re all stunned over here … In the face of this awfulness, many of us will at least always remember him as we last saw him: outrageously, uproariously happy, looking forward to his next adventure with the biggest grin his face could hold.

At 34, Davis had very recently married and was a newlywed for less than a week when he died.

Scant details about Ryan Davis’ cause of manner of death were available, but in their absence, the social web was filled with heartfelt remembrances of a gaming personality who, by all accounts, was a sunny guy with an infectiously happy presence.

IGN’s Greg Miller posted:

“It’s a sentiment shared by everyone who ever met the man — myself included. I only appeared on the Bombcast with Ryan once, and from that point on, he made me feel like we were old high school buddies every time we saw each other at an event. He’s a man whose celebration of gaming struck a chord with everyone he ever spoke to.”

On Twitter, it appears Ryan Davis’ cause of death is a matter of heavy speculation, with the terms “Ryan Davis heart attack” and “Ryan Davis suicide” as visible popular search terms. However, no information has been released to even remotely suggest either is anything but a guess, and no information about the popular gaming personality’s passing has been verified.
