50 Cent Could Face Jail Time For Assault On Ex-Girlfriend [Video]

50 Cent has been arrested and charged after he allegedly attacked his ex-girlfriend, Daphne Joy, who he has a baby with at her Toluca Lake condo in California.

The charges relate to an incident last month where 50 Cent kicked the woman and then vandalised her apartment. He immediately denied being arrested in a tweet saying: “I’m in the car I haven’t been arrested. I’m listing to MJ#SMSAUDIO”

The Los Angeles Police Department said they were called to the condo and on arrival found smashed chandeliers and furniture. The prosecutor from the LA City Attorney’s office said that 50 Cent, (whose real name is the far less glamorous Curtis Jackson), is charged with at least four counts of vandalism and domestic violence:

“During an argument, Jackson allegedly began destroying the female’s property. Allegedly when the female locked herself in her bedroom, Jackson kicked-open the bedroom door and kicked her, causing an injury.”

It is estimated that at least $7,000 worth of damage was caused in the house and that if convicted, the rapper/actor could face jail time and fines up to $50,000.

Mike Feuer, the LA City Attorney spoke about the incident, lambasting the celebrity for his actions:

“Regardless of perceived celebrity or notoriety, domestic violence is a serious crime and alleged perpetrators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law by this office.”.

Jackson is expected in court on July 22.
