Lady Gaga Sings National Anthem At NYC Pride Parade [Video]

Lady Gaga turned up at the Gay Pride parade in New York this weekend to sing the National Anthem.

Gaga, who has stayed out of the public eye since undergoing surgery in February to fix a hip injury, took the stage at Pier 26 to kick off the NYC Pride Parade.

Of course, Lady Gaga’s presence wasn’t the only reason to celebrate in New York.

The Supreme Court recently struck down the Defense of Marriage Act and overturned Prop. 8 in California.

When Lady Gaga took the stage, she gave a speech to congratulate the LGBT community on two hard fought victories. But despite the celebration, Gaga also said that there was still a lot of work to be done.

Gaga said:

“We are not a niche. We are part, a big giant part of humanity. It’s time for us to be mainstream … I demand the rights! To safe streets! Enough is enough, enough is enough.”

This isn’t the first time that Lady Gaga has voiced her support for gay rights. The singer has frequently taken to Twitter to voice support for the LGBT community.

Here’s a video of Lady Gaga singing the National Anthem at the pride parade. Watch closely and you’ll see that the singer changed up some of the words to mark the occasion. Gaga sings: “Oh say, does our star-spangled flag of pride yet wave.”
