Cameron Diaz Joins ‘Annie’ Cast As Miss Hannigan

Were you looking forward to seeing Sandra Bullock play Miss Hannigan? Unfortunately, that isn’t going to be happening any more. Cameron Diaz has reportedly just finished contract negotiations with Sony’s Columbia Pictures and is set to take over the role in the movie Annie.

According to Deadline, Bullock was in talks to to play Miss Hannigan but the Blindside actress recently pulled out. It didn’t take Sony long to find a replacement, however, as Diaz has reportedly signed onto the role.

Diaz may not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of Miss Hannigan but Paste Magazine notes that the actress has played a negligent caregiver in the past. In the movie Bad Teacher, Diaz plays, well, a bad teacher and smokes, drinks and curses at her students.

Do you think Cameron Diaz will make a good Miss Hannigan?

Diaz will join a cast that already includes Oscar nominee Quvenzhane Wallis and Oscar winner Jamie Fox. Wallis, who became the youngest actress to ever receive an Oscar nomination for her role in Beasts Of The Southern Wild, will play the title character in the new movie. Foxx will play Daddy Warbucks.

The new movie is being produced by Will Smith and Jay-Z.

Annie is scheduled to start production this Summer and is scheduled for a 2014 Christmas release.

In addition to Annie, Diaz will soon be seen in The Counselor and The Other Woman. She may also reprise her role in a Bad Teacher sequel.
