Kanye West isn't resting on his laurels after his new album, Yeezus, entered the charts at number one, but he might not be working on the project you would expect, as he has announced that he is currently assisting the upcoming movie reboot of, The Jetsons.
West was first linked to the project last year, but there has been little to no word about its progress since. However, it is still believed that West is currently working extremely hard on the project, despite the fact that Yeezus has just been released and his new daughter, North West was born last week.
In an upcoming in depth interview with W Magazine, West apparently reveals his involvement. W Magazine reports, "We weave through highway traffic as West makes calls about an upcoming Jetsons movie on which, he tells me, he is creative director."
In January it was announced that West was taking meeting to be involved in the reboot, with the news coming from his own personal Twitter account. However the message was soon deleted.
A few weeks later, Van Robichaux and Evan Susser were hired to work on a screenplay for the movie, but six months passed without any further update.
However, West is still clearly working on the project, and producer Denise DiNovi explained what his role in the piece would exactly entail.
DiNovi stated, "He's not the creative director on the movie, but I loved his passion for The Jetsons. He gets the whole thing about the future that never was. He sees us living on a precipice of technology – cameras in your eye, your mind as a remote control to fire lasers – and wonders how things are going to break, for good or for bad."
Do you think Kanye West's The Jetsons will ever make it to cinemas? Who should he cast?
