2010 Miami Dolphins preview

Given the talent this team added in the off season and the draft class they delivered I think the Miami Dolphins are ready to contend for a playoff spot. I didn’t say they would make the playoffs, but I think they will hover around with an 8-8 record and possibly be a NFL Playoffs bubble. Of course as with any other team a lot of things will have to go right, but in looking at their schedule they look like an 8-8 or 7-9 team. Week two to week four are going to be tough as they go to Minnesota, have the Jets at home, and the Patriots at home.

I truly believe that we will see the beginning of the Chad Henne era of this team in 2010. Right now he is penciled in to run the offense. He has Brandon Marshall to throw too, and a very deep RB rotation behind him. I wonder if this team will continue to run the Wild Cat as much as they have in the past. Their are some big questions all along their offensive line and that is very concerning.

I like their defense and they will run a base 3-4 scheme and the four linebackers Cameron White, Karlos Dansby, Channing Crowder, and the rookie Koa Misi have a lot of potential. Their may be some questions along their Defensive line, but the defensive secondary is pretty solid except at the free safety position.

Dan Carpenter will be this team’s kicker and he has the kind of leg that could earn him a pro bowl selection. Brandon Fields will be the punter. Davone Bess will return punts, and this team has a number of options at kick returner, and Patrick Cobbs will get the first chance to cement himself in that role.
