Dan Stevens and Dominic Cooper are two hot, young British actors. Cooper has been a busy man recently with productions such the action movie Need For Speed, in which he plays the villain, and Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier, which he has just finished filming in the US.
His pal and co-star in the new period drama Summer in February, Dan Stevens, is following in his footsteps as he tries to become the next hot British actor to come to Hollywood. Not that he isn’t already popular, but not in the scale of Cooper.
“I don’t know if there’s a formula for success,” Cooper says, “I don’t know if anyone actually knows.”
Speaking to Express of Dan Stevens’ decision to leave the mega mini-series Downton Abbey last year while filming Summer in February, 35 year-old Dominic Cooper commented, “I could see the terror in him.”
“It was very interesting being with him at the time because as actors we all panic about things going wrong. And when you’re leaving something that has made such an impact on your life and career it must be especially daunting.”
Stevens and Cooper are no strangers, they worked together in Sense and Sensibility in 2008. Of whether Dan asked for his advice in his decision to leave Downton, Cooper says, “I don’t think he asked for my actual advice. But it would have been, ‘what does your heart say?’ Are you excited about the prospect of doing other things? And yes he was and I completely understand that.”
Cooper has no doubts that Dan Stevens is going places, he is already a favorite with audiences because of his excellent performance of Matthew Crawley. His is slated to appear in the crime thriller, A Walk Among the Tombstones with Liam Neeson, The Fifth Estate with Benedict Cumberbatch and he was recently cast in the indie The Guest.
Dan Stevens is not only a talented actor, but he does a great many audio books, he is the editor of an online publication called The Junket and was a judge for the Man Booker Prize.
Dominic Cooper and Dan Stevens could be the next hot actors coming from across the pond.
