Tatum O’ Neal was embarrassingly arrested yesterday after buying crack from a homeless man in New York City. She was obviously caught unawares and without a fully fleshed-out explanation, and stated (very unconvincingly, I might add) that she was “doing research for a part.” The police recovered one bag of crack and one of cocaine from her pocket, plus an unused crack pipe in her pocket.
Once she was caught with the stuff, her story quickly changed. The New York Daily News reports that she said that she “had been clean for a long time,” pleading with the cops that “Today was the first time I was relapsing, but you guys saved me! Can you let me go?”
They did not. Duh. She has since been released after arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court, and she’s due for a hearing on July 28.
I’d like to remind you that this is the same woman who semi-chastised Britney Spears for her “disease of addiction” and told her to get it together. (Pot. Kettle.)
