Real Madrid Sack Pellegrino – Mourinho Is On His Way

It’s never easy being a manager for a major soccer (football) team. Especially in one of the major leagues and even more so in Real Madrid. When you are managing Real Madrid it’s NOT ok to end second in Primera Division with “only” 96 points, three points behind league winner FC Barcelona. It’s not good enough to be kicked out of Champions League by Lyon (again). Real Madrid hasn’t been near the Champions League final since 2002. Losing to a fourth division team in Copa del Rey isn’t acceptable either.

The Real Madrid board doesn’t care that Pellegrini’s team has won 18 out of the last 19 matches as long as rival FC Barcelona are even better, nothing is forgiven.

So the Chilean manager will be the 10th manager to leave the club in 7 years. If you spend $331,000,000 on your squad in transfer fees it’s not ok to end behind Barcelona.

The $ 19,000,000 compensation fee to Inter Milan, where Mourinho currently is employed, isn’t scaring Real away. Considering Mourinho is paid $11,000,000 a year in Milano I doubt they worry much about that either. Real Madrid wants to be the best club in the world. In order to become that they need the best manager. Portugese Jose Mourinho is without any doubt the best manager in the world. He has won the Champions League trophy twice already and won the national league in whatever country he has managed a team.

Mourinho might even bring a few new players to the club. Brazilian and Inter full-back Maicon and Benfica’s winger Angel di Maria might becomes Galacticos in the near future.

Mourinho’s transfer isn’t confirmed yet, but as the Special One said to Inter’s financial director Rinaldo Ghelfi: “I am going on holiday, and after that I will work in Spain.”

You gotta love the Special One!
