Bret Michaels in critical condition after brain hemorrhage

Bret Michaels is reportedly in critical condition after suffering a massive brain hemorrhage.

A source “close to the situation” tells People that Michaels was rushed to the hospital late Thursday night after complaining of a severe headache. Doctors discovered the rocker had experienced a “massive subarachnoid hemorrhage (bleeding at the base of his brain stem)” and Michaels is reportedly under “intense observation” while his condition is assessed:

Michaels, 47, is currently in critical condition. “After several CAT scans, MRIs and an angiogram, [doctors] decided to keep Michaels in the ICU and are running several tests to determine the cause. [It] will be touch and go for the next few days while he is under intense observation,” the source says.

April has been a rough month for Michaels, who underwent an emergency appendectomy on April 12th. It is unclear if the brain hemorrhage is perhaps related to the surgery earlier this month or Michaels’ diabetes.
